Welcome to our first 'From The Horse's Mouth' Newsletter!

We are very excited to present the first newsletter to our horse loving community, our goal is to keep you up to date with Sanctuary news and our fundraising activities on a monthly basis.

Whether you’re new to us, or an old friend and supporter, our aim is to help our community grow by bringing you news, ideas, and a little fun!

The Racehorse Sanctuary Retraining and Rehoming Centre is self funding and we could not continue without the help of our many volunteers and supporters. We hope that through this news-sheet everyone will get an idea of our ongoing work and the results achieved for the horses in our care.

THE RACEHORSE SANCTUARY RELOCATES TO FANTASTIC NEW HOME AT STILEMANS

We are delighted to announce the relocation of the charity to new premises in Surrey, to purpose-built stables and with access to 140 acres of prime paddocks.

To those of you in the equestrian world Stilemans is synonymous with British Eventing and Cross Country and it is our great pleasure to inform you that Stilemans and its wonderful facilities is our new home. Relocation was completed over the weekend in late July; many thanks to our loyal staff and to the volunteers who turned out to help make the move as smooth as possible.

LESS A RADICAL DEPARTURE – MORE A RADICAL ARRIVAL

One advantage of the move to Stilemans Graham and Sue can now take some of the horses on the Sanctuary waiting list: starting with new arrival Radical.

This stunning looking gelding named Rads is a 7-y-o by Dansili out of Bold Empress; he stands approximately 15.3hh.

At this early stage we know little about him other than he is a lovely character, very sound and seems to be very level headed.

Although Rads was in training in Newmarket as a youngster he never actually got to the track for some reason hence he is un-raced.

Once he has settled in and been examined by our vet Tony, we will be climbing aboard and will then have more to report as to how he performs under saddle.

DO NOT MISS THE THOROUGHBRED BALL - KEEP THIS DATE CLEAR IN YOUR DIARY

Saturday 1 November 2014 at Wildwood Golf Club provides the next chance to let your hair down and have fun raising much-needed funds for the great work of the Sanctuary.

SANDOWN PARK RACEDAY WEDNESDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2014

Sponsored by our Lead Partner: St James's Place Wealth Management

Our next major fundraising event is a Charity Auction and VIP raceday at Sandown Park.

After all the expenses of the move we need to raise as much money as possible through this event, so please support us if you can; you will not be disappointed if last year’s event is anything to go by.

If you have not received a hard copy invitation or have mislaid it, you can register for the event on our new website by clicking here.

We have even made arrangements with Just Giving to enable you to pay for tickets by credit card, if you prefer to pay this way.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS - GLORIOUS GOODWOOD

Many thanks to a valiant team of volunteers, who collected donations from racegoers on the first day of Glorious Goodwood, raising £500 by means of a bucket collection.

HOW TO HELP THE RACEHORSE SANCTUARY:
TEXT DONATIONS
You can donate using the power and simplicity of SMS - all you need to do is text HORS20 followed by a space, then an amount you wish to donate: £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 (Example: HORS20 £5) and send it to 70070
JUST GIVING DONATIONS
The Sanctuary’s JustGiving page is a very convenient means to securing donations to the Sanctuary.

Our Individual Fundraiser of the Month, Carrie, used it to collect some of the donations for her extreme challenge: Read More.

Volunteer David created his own JustGiving page linked to the Sanctuary, to raise funds from his friends and family by taking part in the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle; see: Read More.

Meanwhile, Bridget is raising funds through her own JustGiving page for her sponsored slim; see: Read More.

Between them these supporters have raised over £3,000 this month! With these examples of what can be done, why not create your own JustGiving page and have a go at fundraising for us?
