Debbie Bonham – Mark Butcher Rock Concert report

Sanctuary

On the evening of Friday 27th November 2009 around 300 people converged on Hurtwood Polo Club in Surrey for an evenings musical entertainment put on by our trustee Debbie Bonham (brother of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham) and a long term supporter of ours and former England batsman Mark Butcher. Tony Moore formerly of Cutting Crew also got up and gave a performance which included some of his past hit singles.

The evening was a huge success and along with the first class music an auction of both sporting and pop memorabilia, a raffle and a hog roast took place. The magnificent surroundings of Hurtwood Park Polo Club really lent itself to this type of event and our thanks go to the owner Kenny Jones who generously donated the use of his premises for the evening to our charity.

All who attended said what a wonderful evening they had had and particularly one of our volunteers being Hayden Goulder who for one song was allowed to go on stage with Debbie and Mark and play drums, for this Debbie presented him with a pair of signed drum sticks at the end of the event.

Well over £6000 was raised for the charity at this event and we cannot thank Debbie, her husband Peter, Mark and all the crew who were responsible for creating such excellent music. I would also like to thank all those who helped to put the event together and those who helped on the night, this type of event takes such a lot of organising and without them it simply wouldn’t have happened.
