A sad but dignified farewell to the Racehorse Sanctuaries Princess

On Monday 22nd March 2010 Thank Yourself or TY as we all called her quietly passed away under the supervision of Will a vet from Arundel whilst being comforted by myself.

TY was a very special lady who had lived her life to the full in so many respects long before she came to us and during her time with us she taught us all so much. She was a very humble lady who never at any point took things for granted and fully appreciated everything that was done for her no matter how small or insignificant. At the ripe old age of twenty-six TY having enjoyed a very full life which had its ups and downs she suffered a second leg infection which despite both steroids and the hardest hitting antibiotics simply got hold of her to the extent that the vet said this situation isn’t going to improve and it is just a matter of time before she will lose her mobility, the decision was made for us as we weren’t prepared to see her suffer. whilst being comforted by myself.

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon when TY and I took a leisurely walk and grazed on a grassy bank for a short while followed by a couple of her favourite extra strong mints before she laid down and quietly went to sleep never to wake up again. TY will be greatly missed by all here at the centre.
