Racehorse Sanctuary Open Day

On Sunday 9th August 2009 the first official open day to be held at Belmoredean Stud took place soaked in sunshine.

We were very honoured in that not only did Beccy Green Commercial Director of Fontwell Park Racecourse come along to give a short demonstration on her horse Another General but we also had guest appearances by none other that Topsham Bay dual winner of the Whitbread Gold Cup and Rough Quest the 1996 Grand National winner, all three looked absolutely magnificent.

The majority of the centre’s horses were paraded and with the exception of Wavertree Boy all behaved impeccably (Norbert decided to have fun whilst in the indoor school parading).

There were various stalls, raffles and a silent auction taking place throughout the day and refreshments were available.

Over 130 people came along on this day which we all found very encouraging and I would like to personally thank all those who were so very generous with their donations and joining of our support group.
