Horses at Stonehouse Stables
Moorcroft Boy
Mr M continues to thrive in all respects regardless of the fact that next time around he will be 22 years of age. The check ligament hasn’t gone away but with constant lasoring and monitoring his exercise carefully it is remaining stable and the collapsed heels are along the same
lines in that whilst they aren’t going to go away I think they will last him out for the rest of his days. It is most probably an age thing but he is starting to become rather cantankerous of late and taking advantage of his star status by way of insisting that he needs this and needs that and if he doesn’t get it he then sulks and has a go at Giant, hence in order to keep the peace he ends up getting his own way. In mid October we did have a mini panic when he suffered a very mild attack of spasmodic colic but within a couple of hours he was back eating for Great Britain again and hasn’t looked back since. Mr M never ceases to amaze me in that whilst he was such an incredibly brave racehorse, away from that environment he really is a wimp and relies on Sue and I for absolutely everything and even after all these years of being with us if anything is out of routine or slightly different he reverts back into his shell and on the defensive trusting nothing and no-one. Having said all that we make sure that little or nothing does change in his daily routine hence he is a happy little bunny who spends all day concentrating on the two most important things in his life, those being, eating and sleeping.
